LOVE MUSIC HATE RACISM
EUROPEAN SONGBOOK: SOUNDS OF DIVERSITY
LIPA CAFÉ, FRIDAY, APRIL 30TH 20:30

European Songbook: Sounds of Diversity is a transnational, European project that explores, through songwriting and performance, issues regarding unity, diversity, racism, and xenophobia. Funded by the European Commission through the British Council the project has brought together students from LIPA, The Jazz Rock Schule (Freiburg, Germany), Music Academy International (Nancy, France) and the Helsinki Pop & Jazz Conservatory for a series of residential writing sessions and concerts in all 4 countries.

The project strives to harness the value and potential of popular music to act as a positive force in European society in contributing to raising awareness regarding key European socio-cultural issues. The Liverpool concert will showcase the work developed over the past 6 months and feature a dozen multilingual songs performed in English, German, French, Finnish, Portuguese and Hebrew. In addition to the performance, the students will be recording the songs at Liverpool’s legendary Parr Street studios.

The concert will take place on Friday, April 30th at 20:30 in the LIPA Café. Entrance is free of charge. The event forms part of LIPA’s 3rd Degree festival in support of the Love Music Hate Racism initiative.
